Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Miso Glaze
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Small Bowl
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste, rice vinegar, mirin, honey (or maple syrup), ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Pat dry: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps the glaze adhere properly.
  3. Season salmon: Lightly brush the salmon fillets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Glaze salmon: Generously brush the miso glaze over the top of each salmon fillet.
  5. Air fry: Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  6. Cook: Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon and your desired level of doneness. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Serve: Carefully remove the salmon from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

To ensure perfectly cooked salmon every time, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. If your salmon fillets are particularly thick, consider slightly increasing the cooking time. If you prefer a deeper, caramelized glaze, you can broil the salmon for the last minute of cooking, keeping a close eye to prevent burning. White miso is milder and sweeter, making it ideal for this glaze, but feel free to experiment with red miso for a bolder flavor. Don't be afraid to adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more honey or maple syrup to your liking.
